People tend to have some difficulty understanding the various parts of the editorial process. To make sure that you fully understand what services you require please take note of the following:
- Copyediting refers to having your document checked for issues surrounding the plot, theme or flow; inconsistencies, repetition and mistakes. While it does involve checking for grammatical and spelling errors it also focuses on the small details that lend to the big picture in your story including, but not limited to, continuity errors, fact checking statements and checking for legal liability.
- Proofreading occurs after a manuscript has been printed and before it goes into mass production. The proofreader makes sure that there are no omissions, missing pages, or awkward word or page breaks in the manuscript.
